Joy in the Waiting

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I hope..."
Psalm 130:5

A smile crossed my face as I typed the word "waiting" in the post title. Wednesday, September 11th, marked 2 years since we said "yes" to follow God's call into international adoption. This word "waiting" and all of its meaning has been an ever present part of our journey to adopt.

Our current "holding pattern" is related to the rainy season in Ethiopia. During this time, which also spans the Ethiopian New Year (September 11), the Ethiopian courts are closed. During this almost 2 month closure, adoption hearings are among the many things on hold.

This week, we found out our preliminary hearing (PH) is scheduled for October 22. We are thrilled to have this scheduled. This is not a court hearing we attend. If all goes favorably, we will be assigned a court date. We so look forward to our long awaited flight to Ethiopia to meet our kids!

To make the wait somewhat more bearable, we received more recent picture of the kids. They are beautiful and it is fun to try to imagine their personalities from their expressions in the pictures. We cannot share these online, but always have a picture with us--just ask! We also received their measurements, which gives us a better idea of their weight and heights.

While we wait, we are savoring this season and time with Katie and David. This weekend was no exception as Thom helped coach David's baseball team on a beautiful Saturday morning...

...and we attended the Williamson County Band Exhibition on Saturday night.

The Lord's timing is perfect, and though at times we struggle with timelines,
we trust Him and enjoy His many blessings each day!
